 1   Ask a Technician / High temp vs humidity  on: Jul 31st, 2009, 08:03am

We have our system controlled by a dehumidistat when we're away. The dehumidistat is set at 60 percent and the temperature at 82 degrees. Recently friends checking the house have noted that the inside temp in feeling warmer than usual although the humidity is fine. How high should the temp go if it's set at 82? Also, the humidity seems to stay around 46 percent. If it's set at 60 wouldn't it be running around 60? The system was checked recently and was fine.

 2   Ask a Technician / heat not very hot!  on: Nov 24th, 2008, 10:01am

We live in NC- had a new heat pump put in just under a year ago, and our heat doesn't seem to be very hot. We keep the house temp around 69 degrees F, and when the air blows out the vents, it feels almost cool. The same for when we turn up the heat.

I'm not certain about furnace filters; have never been in our crawl space, so I don't know if that could be the issue, or if it's a bigger concern. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!

In the middle of the florida summer heat the temperatures outside can easily reach 97 to 100 degrees F. It is not uncommon for your system to run constantly throughout the heat of the day especially when the heating index adds another 5 to 10 degrees on the outside temps. Also it depends upon how cool you like to keep your home. Keeping blinds shut and cieling fans on counter clockwise can help. Also try to keep your thermostat as high as you can stand it normally 78 to 80 degrees. Have a great day!

My AC is running most of the day and my electric bill is way up there. My AC system is fairly new [3-5 yrs].Is it normal for it to run all the time to keep temperature?
